Homemade Gelatin (Jello)

When I was pregnant with Little Lady, I craved Jello like no other. Looking at the labels in the store I decided to make my own version. (And if you ask Mountain Man, I pretty much just craved everything but shhhhh….)

Gelatin is what makes jello “gel”. It actually is a protein derived from animal skin and bones. I know it sounds weird, but trust me, this snack is good! Gelatin is full of great stuff and is a great addition to any diet. It’ll help your nails, your hair, and digestion. One cup and you get 6 grams of protein (6 GRAMS!!) and whatever fruit servings from your juice mixer. The best part is it helps with stretch marks and saggy skin because of the collagen content.

So instead of buying expensive face cream or stretch mark lotion just eat a bunch of gelatin. 😉

This snack is beyond easy to make. It has two ingredients: Gelatin, of course; and ANY organic juice. (I used the organic mango lemonade I had in the fridge.) You can use fresh squeezed OJ or pretty much anything you’d like. Warming your juice and dissolving the gelatin is pretty much it. Afterwards you let it sit in the fridge for at least three hours.

GelatinThis is the gelatin I like to use.

GelatinDon’t let the juice get too hot or it will make the gelatin clump instead of dissolve.

Gelatin

One cup of juice makes about four cubes in this tray. If you are making a larger batch just keep the ratio the same.
